Pabna- - - The price of construction materials, including cement, has shot up sharply in all local markets of the district hampering construction works.

As the contractors were showing reluctance to buy cement at high rate, construction work on various projects undertaken by the government as well as the members of the public was being hampered.

The owners of the cement factories and the dealers raised the price of cement, mainly elephant and king brand, by Tk 30-40 per bag.

The price of per bag cement rose to Tk 255-260 from Tk 218-220 while the price of per ton rods rose to Tk 27,500 from Tk 20,000.
